Shall I shave my underarms?
What if it grows thicker? Or it looks nastier?
Hold on ladies!
We know, shaving is one of many diurnal practices with which one needs to be accommodated in order to be a part of the sophisticated lights of a civilised society, no matter what sex you are.
Boys with a well-grown beard can be viewed as a natural phenomenon, although the decision totally rests upon them whether they favour a cleanly shaved face or a full grown beard.
However, in the case of girls, it is a matter of disturbance because such a facade is bizarre and weird. Wouldn’t you mind having overgrown hair covering your boy?
But girls do you know that shaving has countless dark sides which can haunt you throughout your life?
Wait, that’s just a myth! The society has just established certain ideas that were considered to be facts. But we claim that it’s just series of myths and let’s bust it:
Myth I: SHAVING IS THE ORIGINATOR OF BLACK PATCHES ON YOUR SKIN
Girls, are you worried about the black patches that are gradually getting prominent especially beneath your underarms or the region surrounding your vagina? You must be thinking, it was not their erstwhile before you started to shave? Then surely, shaving has an important role in it.
No, it is not. The truth is melanin pigment is the villain! When you shave, if with a double- blade razor, irritation ensues which causes the hair follicles to swell triggering out razor burns and razor bumps. The irritation causes excitation of melanin pigment resulting in hyperpigmentation or dark patches. These dark patches especially occur beneath your underarms and other sweat infected areas of your body.
You cannot do anything with the sweat, right? But you can take safety measures like use a single blade razor, shaving in the direction of hair growth, application of warm water before shaving to soften the hairs and skin etc. If precaution can be taken, certainly mishaps can be avoided. And, God- forbid, if patches started to make its presence felt, then no worries at all!!! Visit a dermatologist to get a proper medical treatment for it. It will take time but it will gradually disappear.
MYTH II: SHAVING YOUR BODY HAIR CAUSES THICKENED GROWTH OF YOUR HAIRS
It is a common accusation on behalf of almost every woman on earth, shaving makes me look bizarre because it is thickening my body hairs….What to do now??!!!!!!And to aggravate the situation parlour beauticians are always there.
Please stop blaming shaving at least for this reason. Actually, you will when you know the logic behind it. The logic is: before shaving, the pattern o f unmodified natural growth of body hair was featured with thickening tendency towards its roots with the propensity of tapering towards the apex. But as you start shaving, these hairs pop out with uniform growth resulting into its weird masculine look. And moreover, this thickening factor is also regulated by your hormonal balance and imbalance In this context, women or even teenage girls with the symptoms of PCOD(Polycystic Ovarian Disease) wretched with the outrageous growth of pubic hairs, do not worry about it. It is all the same for you as well.So girls, do it without hesitation.
MYTH III: SHAVING CAUSES HAIR GROWTH FASTER
People often ask a silly question, “Is shaving responsible for faster hair growth?”And some people believe it wholeheartedly.
My question is how a person with sanity and proper conditioning can live with such an imbecile conception?!!The truth is no doubt something else and now it is proven by the trichologists as well that shaving cannot be attributed to its fast growth. Then who do you need to blame? Of course, your hormones, who else?
MYTH IV: NO SHAVING IN THE UPPER LIP AND FACE
“Don’t dare to shave in the upper lip and face. Not good for your skin.” Beauty conscious belles and parlour beauticians always advise you. Your forehead must be frowning with such negative views, right?
Shaving is not only a way to remove your unwanted hair but also exfoliates your skin, which means, removal of dead skin cells and exposure of your hidden cells, which rather makes your skin look ageless, therefore enhances your beauty. You yourself will only the benefit as your skin will be revitalised. And when you have a flawless beautiful young skin, you will feel confident to take any move.No need to think, “I am no longer eligible to such dress or such make –up.” Shaving serves as an emphatic role in the makeover of your face or any region of your body and, most important of all, it is absolutely safe. So feel free to proceed!!
MYTH V: SHAVING IS CONVICTED FOR ROUGH SKIN
Few days after shaving, you will find that your skin is getting coarser. Surely, you will find shaving as the ultimate culprit, no doubt. Stop and think.” Is it really?”
If you have faith in logic, it says: coarseness of your skin is not because of shaving but due to rebirth of your undesired pubic hairs which is at this stage in the form of a particle, which we otherwise denote as in-grown hairs, feels your skin look rough and coarse enough to make you feel irritated. If you are too much frustrated about these, you are free to use ingrown eliminating pads. It is equally safe. If you can tolerate, then wait for a while to come out properly, and then shave. No issues regarding that.
MYTH VI: BEAR WITH THE AFTER-EFFECTS OF SHAVING; ITCHING, RASHES, ACNES EVEN PIMPLES!!!!!!
Men or women, after shaving, encounter inevitable problem itching and in special cases, rashes, acnes or even pimples. Some people are so affected that their face literally gets covered by such pain-stricken allergies. You must be thinking, it can happen to you as well, Right?
These acnes and pimples are handled by your skin nature,i.e, whether oily or dry skin. Both oily and dry skin is prone to such allergies. Visit a dermatologist and sort it out. If it is not bothering you too much, like one or two, then just leave it as it is, because as I have said earlier, if you shave with a double blade, friction happens and these problems will recur; thus, by shaving in the proper method many problems can be avoided. So, stop complaining.
MYTH VII: DRY OR WET, IT DOESN’T MATTER
People around you always there to misguide you about certain misconceptions just as “shaving has nothing to do with dry or wet skin, you use it anyway, the result is all the same”.
A very wrong conception; it matters if you do shave in dry skin, there is a possible chance of recurring problems like itching, rashes, black patches; whereas, if you wet your skin methodically, such complications can be avoided.
MYTH VIII: SHAVING DRIES UP YOUR SKIN
There is popular belief that shaving dries up your skin. It destroys your skin follicles.
Shaving never dries up your skin. It is the shaving soap or gel who is supposed to be held responsible because the lather of it dries up your skin. In that case, use a moisturiser immediately after saving. Problem solved!!!
Come on girls; don’t beguile your vision with such brainless ideas. Come face to face with science, logic and reality. Confront with the actual truth to enlighten your heart, mind and soul.
