If sex, dragons and white walkers of Game Of Thrones are not enough for you to keep you hooked to the most popular television series of all time, then we hope a dash of medieval fashion and a splash of royal style will arouse a new found interest in you.
Even with all the drama and chaos in the Seven Kingdoms, the fashion statement of the characters in the show hasn’t staggered even a little.
In fact, the panache of the characters has been so appreciated by the viewers that it has found its way into the modern fashion world.
Take a look at the following list of the popular Game Of Thrones characters and find out, which common traits you share with them.
No matter how much you hate her, Cersei Lannister is one of the most important personalities of the Seven Kingdoms. She is a true badass queen, who never stops till her enemies have tasted the ground. Besides being tough as a nail, she is a shrewd schemer and remains a step ahead of her enemies.
Cersei adds ‘royal’ to royalty with her elegant and powerful choice of fashion. Her regal style dictates a superior hold on her subjects and reminds them about her stature. With the passage of each season, Cersei’s wardrobe has undergone major changes; her flowing V-necked blazing gowns have turned into high-necked dark leather gowns. Monochromatic pieces, statement jewellery and metal accessories have always been the evil Queen’s signature style.
Cersei’s elaborate braids and hairdos had raised the hair game of the women in the Seven Kingdoms since the very beginning of the show. Besides, who could have pulled the closely-cropped hair better than her?
Our beloved Khaleesi is among the bold women in the Seven Kingdoms. She is brave, resilient and emotionally strong and her ‘never take NO for an answer’ attitude makes her a ruthless opponent. Daenerys’s compassion towards her subjects makes her a very likeable character in the show. Undoubtedly she is among those characters on the show which have had the most insane transformation. The shy timid girl who was initially pushed around learns to take charge of the entire situation.
Daenerys is probably the only character besides Sansa Stark whose style has been evolving throughout the seasons. The Dothraki Queen, mother of the dragons, breakers of chains and the rightful heir to the Iron Throne has the strongest braid game in the show. Her hairstyles have spurred millions of hair tutorials on the internet. Her signature look is meant to be feminine and romantic. It is something that one would normally not associate with a person who rides the dragon and burns people alive (Sorry Dickon!). The other thing worth mentioning is her statement jewellery pieces and especially her dragon necklaces and pendants.
PS: Jon Snow might bend the knee now *cough*
We have to admit that the Stark sisters are true survivors on the show. The nerve wrecking torment Sansa had to bear on the show (both mentally and physically) moulded her into a cold woman with a nerve of steel. Her maturity and manipulative instincts of survival reckon her as a true figure of authority.
Sansa’s style has always been in talks. Her wardrobe screams ‘proper noble lady’ and so does her majestic yet simple hairdos. Sansa designs her own clothes and uses her creativity to express her feelings.
Black leather, shaggy fur, and elaborate shoulder pads have become a significant part of Sansa’s look.
PS: After dealing with the White Walkers, Sansa should consider about starting her own line of clothing in Winterfell.
The most reliable man in all of Westeros and Seven Kingdoms, this humble King of the North and Targaryen prince (SPOILER ALERT!) sure knows how to rule his people the right way. His nobility, love for his family members and concern for the greater good makes him one of the most loved characters on the show.
Ruffled hair, sexy beard and a broody look make both men and women go weak in their knees every time Jon Snow is on screen. Even though Jon Snow does not bend the knee; surely everyone else does when they see the White Wolf. Who knew that beard and a man bun (which is also the cutest little thing in the show) would turn a naive chocolate boy grow into a sexy man over a season? The essence of the signature look of Jon Snow is his layers of leather and dark coloured wool and fur. Well, they are basically IKEA rugs but damn it makes all the men of Night’s Watch look very sexy (Not you Samwell Turly!).
PS: The ex-Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, happens to know a thing or two about shacking up. *wink wink*
She is brave, smart and most importantly a survivor. She is a true wolf among the galore of sheep in the Seven Kingdoms. For Arya, her family comes first and she stops at nothing before she delivers justice to those who have wronged her and her family. Her sheer bravery and intelligence are the factors that helped her to strike off most of the names of her enemies off THE list (Cersei beware!).
The character of Arya Stark adopts a ‘Tom Boyish’ look through the progressing seasons. Unlike her elder sister Sansa who expresses herself through her fashion, Arya dresses up as per occasion and more importantly to blend in with the environment she is in. It can also be said that she adopts the style of the place happens to be at the moment. Earlier, she used to sport various buns and braids but off late her braids have given in to buns and she does not seem to be a fan of accessorizing.
PS: She is hands down our favourite Stark sister!
He drinks and knows things! This is the best that can be said about the character of Tyrion Lannister. The man is practically a dwarf but that doesn’t stop him from being the awesome person that he is. Incredibly smart, master of quick wit and a hoarder of knowledge, these are the traits that make him the most desirable character to form an alliance with in the show.
The most loved character on the show besides Jon Snow is not only a man who knows stuff but is also quite quaint when it comes to dressing up in style.
Poofy pants and shirts have to be Tyrion’s signature style and the sexy dwarf does know how to pull off bold stripes with elegance. When it comes to accessorizing cool badges (in this case the badge of the hand of the queen) add elegance to his chic ensemble.
P.S: Tyrion with the beard is so much better than Tyrion without a beard, isn’t?
Schemer, selfish and wicked with a hint of psychotic. Euron Greyjoy is someone you would never wish to cross paths with. His hunger for power is so deep that he doesn’t even hesitate to eliminate his own family to get to the throne.
Being one of the most hated villains on the show, he surprisingly serves as a poster boy for stylish ruffians. Euron sure knows how to play in badass leather jackets and his smoky guyliner adds volumes of intensity to his evil eyes creating an overall emo vibe. The signature look of Euron Greyjoy can be best compared to the metal rock band guys of the early modern era.
Brienne of Tarth
A lady warrior with a good and noble heart is perhaps the most suited description this great character. Brienne is extremely cool-headed and fierce whilst dealing with her threats. Her loyalty towards Lady Catelyn Stark makes her one-of-a-kind character in the show. She turns her physical deformity into her biggest advantage and proves that she is no lesser than a man when it comes to handling swords on a battle field.
Brienne of Tarth is probably taller than most men in the Seven Kingdoms and the trait that sets her apart from all the other ladies in the show is her unique sense of style and daring attitude. Brienne’s sense of fashion is androgynous in nature, which is probably a result of her extremely tall and muscular built. Metal armour and swords are what makes her signature style; she is a Lady who prefers armours to frilly dresses.
P.S: She defeated the Hound single handedly, need we say more?
A smart, brave and gorgeous woman who has all the ingredients that make her a good model for the young girls. She is an intelligent girl who is well versed in 19 foreign languages and their customs. She is not only reliable but also a trusted adviser of the queen. Her sincerity towards Daenerys and her affection towards Grey Worm make her a genuinely good character.
The major highlights of Missandei’s personal style are her crazy curls and earthy makeup. Halter neck dresses, crop tops and long and well-fitted skirts are her signature look. When it comes to accessorizing, Missandei likes to keep it simple. Her leather harnesses are what completes her ensemble and give it a cool military vibe.
P.S: We would kill to have a gal pal like her! Luck Danny!
The King Slayer and the Oath breaker, Ser Jaime Lannister is a character whom we have fallen in love with over the seasons. Though he was really annoying at the beginning; over the seasons we understood that he has a good heart. Jaime is a compassionate man and one of the best swordsmen Westeros has ever seen. After losing his sword hand; he has become weak. But come on, he is still loveable and courageous.
From the long-haired handsome young arrogant knight to the battle-worn modest General of Lannister army, Jaime’s style profile has really evolved over the years. And we cannot deny the short haired beardy look that Jaime sports nowadays, makes even women like Lady Brienne to respect him.
Ser Bronn of Black Water:
The favourite sale-sword of the Lannister brothers is also one of our favourite characters. He is strong, good looking, a great fighter and overall has a great sense of humour. Who can possibly not like such a guy?
Style Profile: ‘
A good amount of facial hair and back brushed hair is what defines Bronn’s look. And we cannot deny the all black leathery outfit that he wears really makes him attractive.
PS: Come on Jaime, give the man his goddamn castle.
We don’t know who will sit on the Iron Throne at the end of Season 8 of Game Of Thrones. But we surely adore these characters. So, brush up your Game of Thrones knowledge and find out which GOT character are you.
